In 2001 I traveled to Nepal and trekked with a group of people to the Gokyo Lakes region near Mt. Everest. The high point of the trip was a hike up Gokyo Ri, just under 18,000 feet elevation. Going to Nepal was a trip of a lifetime for me. The country is fantastic, the people living much like they have for thousands of years. No roads, incredible mountains, a fine trip.
